My favorite home decorating style is a mix of contemporary modern and classic traditional. I think the two styles pair so well together and create a fresh, and casual atmosphere in a home. Whenever I’m browsing through Pinterest, “Modern Classic” is a style that I see all throughout designer homes. I love the look, but I don’t love the price!

I’m a big believer that you can have a stylish home on a regular budget. There’s no reason that you need to spend $90 on a pillow cover (for example) in order to have a beautiful home. That’s just crazy! So, I decided it was time to start figuring out how I could get that modern classic look for less.

Today I’m sharing my favorite baskets and containers collected styling accessories.

In order to make a room look lived in and put together, you need to style it a little. Adding accessories to a space in a purposeful way makes a room feel thought out and pulled together.

Styling accessories can be used in just about every room to add some character and charm. Accessories that have a “collected” feel to them work the best.

Your accessories shouldn’t all match, they should look like they were collected and curated over time. You want to get that look of items that are different, but still all work together in a cohesive way.

Rope baskets are great for casual spaces like a family room, a kid’s play room, or even a mudroom. I love this set of three in neutral colors.

Gold wire baskets look sophisticated and can also add an edgy or industrial vibe to your decor. Shorter wire baskets like this can be used to corral items and can even be a drop zone for papers.

A taller wire basket like this one works great as decorative storage. These types of baskets can hold all kinds of different things while still looking stylish.

Box containers are one of my favorite things to use when decorating. You can find boxes like these in just about any color or style. I also love that they have lids! These wooden ones are perfect for concealing smaller things like remotes or coasters.

Trays are some of the most versatile containers. Not only do they look great, but they are super functional and are great for corralling things. I use trays in just about every room. A neutral wooden set like this will work with just about any style.
