It’s fall home tour week! I hope you’re excited because this week I’m going to give you a glimpse into my home all decorated for fall. To kick off the fall season, and the start of the home tour, I thought I would share with you my front porch.
Our “front porch” isn’t really a porch, but really just a small sidewalk leading to our door. I don’t have a ton of room to work with, so I normally keep my decorations pretty simple.
This year, I wanted to create a fresh and modern looking display. I ended up with a beautiful fall porch that I just want to stare at all season long! The whole area came together with just 5 simple pieces.
A Simple and Modern Fall Front Porch

1 – Buffalo Check Rug
I started by laying down a black and white buffalo check rug. Nothing says fall like breaking out plaid patterns. I love the black and white check because it feels modern while also being perfect for autumn.
2 – White Pumpkin
Next, I added this pretty white pumpkin that I found at HomeGoods. This pumpkin is bigger than it looks and also pretty heavy! It’s made to withstand the wind and rain outside. And unlike the real pumpkins, this guy will last me all season long.
PS: I got tons of compliments on this pumpkin waiting in line to checkout at HomeGoods! It’s a winner.
3 – Planter Baskets
On the opposite side of the door, I added these two light gray basket planters. They kind of remind me of apple picking baskets but have a slightly more modern vibe to them. I love the texture that baskets bring to a space and they make the best planters.
These baskets were actually Goodwill finds that I have had for the longest time! I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do with them until now. I’ll be sharing a tutorial for the planter baskets makeover in a future post and you can see what they looked like before.
4 – Mums
Nothing says fall like some gorgeous fall florals. Mums are great, hearty outdoor plants that are perfect on a front porch or deck. I got the pink plant at Costco for only $10 and the corally-orange one was found at Trader Joe’s for just $3! Plants bring life and color into just about any space. They were the perfect addition to our fall front porch.
5 – Fall Wreath
To finish off my display, I added a simple fall wreath to the front door. This wreath is actually just a grapevine wreath that I spray painted gold. The gold looks great against our front door and is a perfect for fall. The grapevine wreath is a subtle addition to the front porch, but I think it adds some much-needed texture without stealing the show.
I hope you enjoyed this little preview of my fall home. I’ll be back later this week sharing the rest of my home all decorated for fall.
Have you started decorating for fall yet? What’s one thing that you always put out on your front porch for fall? Let me know in the comments.
Have a great week!
